Marquis Converse opened the rubber shoe and boot company called 'Converse and Pike' in Boston in 1890. The company began producing non-slip canvas basketball shoes in 1915. After the basketball player named Chuck Taylor started working as a sales consultant in the company in 1922, corrugated borders and pivot buttons that adhere to the outsole and sole of the sneakers were added in 1929. However, in 1934, the All Star model began to be called Chuck Taylor All Star.
